Each of our people are invited to our ‘First Impressions’ welcome day, giving a taster of the business, an opportunity to meet other new colleagues and learn more about what we do. And that’s just the beginning. We follow the 70:20:10 model of learning, encouraging a blend of learning methods such as through coaching and mentoring, including for women in technology roles, and formal courses.
During 2018, our people benefitted from 124,000 hours of learning and development to help build the skills and knowledge needed to deliver for our customers.
We recognise the importance of succession planning for our longer term growth, thereby expanding our eXel and Potential programmes for senior and junior leaders, respectively. Consequently, 1 in 4 of our roles are filled through promotion, ensuring we can bring in new expertise while maintaining our unique culture.
Innovation is essential for us to keep moving forward too. Our ‘Fresh Thinking’ course encourages innovation and creativity in the workplace, and our CodeIT programme provides technology hackathons for both our people and undergraduates at our partner universities.
