Diverse and inclusive
Civica has enabled and empowered me to establish our Coding for Kids programme in Belfast by providing me with technical resources, a team of volunteers and time outside of my day job to pursue this worthwhile cause. We have seen the benefits of the programme in both the children that we reach and the colleagues that take part; many of whom are returning to their role at Civica inspired and even more energised to work in the IT industry.

We pride ourselves on having a global presence whilst retaining a local focus, so it’s paramount that we embrace diversity at every opportunity.
Consequently, as we grow, we must continually scrutinise our own approach to diversity and inclusion to improve it where we can. We have therefore appointed a Diversity and Inclusion lead who, along with our CEO and Chief Diversity Sponsor Wayne Story, will spearhead an enhanced diversity programme.
For our International business, we are a White Ribbon accredited workplace in order to promote a respectful, safe environment for women, and are also piloting a mentoring scheme for high potential women in Australia.
At Civica, encouraging more girls and women to consider a role in IT is embedded in our values. We’ve partnered with UK charity Young Enterprise accordingly and have in place our Coding for Kids scheme to inspire children of all genders that a career in technology is rewarding and open to all.
While we continually adapt our recruitment processes to encourage a diverse range of applicants and to ensure selection is fair and unbiased, we recently became a signatory to the Tech Talent Charter, committing to more inclusive attraction and recruitment processes, and also to measuring our diversity profile against other similar companies.
By signing the Armed Forces Covenant too, we strive to support the employment of veterans and service spouses and their partners.
